Hi all,
Everyone’s celebrating here, for India yesterday won the first ever Twenty 20 Cricket World Cup, held in South Africa. India defeated Pakistan on a nail biting finish to lift the cup, and bring back the lost glory.
India was headed by the blastmaster Mahendra Singh Dhoni and party. The determined youngsters put their heart and soul into the game, not being too much beguiled by the stress, and came out with a wonderful finish!
Three cheers to India! Ah Ya India!

Good evening ladies and gentlemen,
It is with deadliest regret I inform you, 2 days late, that the 7th version of Harry Potter, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, has been well and truly leaked 3 days well before the launch date! Some very persistent guy took the pains to photograph every single page of the book and host it on the net!
Want it? Go ahead to torrents sites like The Pirate Bay and search for it! Have fun!

Hello all,
The ICSE & ISC results were released today… Good luck
Hello all,
There has been a notorius side industry going on along the net. Imagine you’re a webmaster, and just made a new website. When you search for a domain for the website, you find that it has already been taken. So you compromise the extension, and go in for a .net or .org or so..
Some “clever” crooks out there buy up all expiring domains. Then they check out if there are other sites with the same domain name, but different extensions. They contact the site owner, and put up ridiculous sums of money in exchange for the original domain.
Some webmasters have fell into such traps. Many a time, when webmasters dont agree, the crooks use the domain to set up offensive sites, like adult sites, spam sites, splogs and so on, and put the same name for the site. Thus, they blackmail the webmaster into buying the domain…

I had heard of such incidents happening, but never paid a good ear. But now, its happening to me, and I thought of posting it on the net…
My first blog ever, 5 years old now, was one named Witness Times. It was a personal blog, in which I used to publish funny incidents in an anonymous manner about my old school. The blog had a sizeable following, and yes, I was happy. Once, I bought the domain for the site, www.witnesstimes.com, but I forgot to renew it when it expired. Someone else took it on (it had a PR of 3 on it then) so I bought another domain www.witnesstimes.info (thats the current address).
Today, a guy named Peter(peterp2512@yahoo.com – no, I’m not spam protecting it… Here spam bots… Here’s a treat for you
) contacted me, saying that he owned the .com version of my site, and he wanted to sell it to me! For 95 dollars!!!!
Hi,I own the .COM version of your domain name witnesstimes.info and I am wanting to sell it.
I was wondering if you would be interested in buying this domain for $95 from me seen as though you own the same domain but in another extension ?
If you are interested please get back to me.
Peter
Can you imagine??? $95 for a stupid domain, which had a PR of 0, which was blacklisted for being a spam site, and had absolutely no value! I told him to stop dreaming, and refused the offer, and any further reduced offers.
According to a domain name appraisal by LeapFish, the domain witnesstimes.com is worth only $21!!!
And Peter wants me to buy it for $95!!!How people go crazy!!!
I’m waiting for his next move. I was insulted to the boot here when he contacted me and told me to pay $95 for a domain which I had owned, and didnt want to own again! I’m waiting to see how he’ll proceed… Whatever he does, I’ll be ready for him… And I’ve agreed to freelance about the topic for a very reknown Indian Tech magazine
So Mr Peter here, if he does anything worse, will get to be quite famous
HAVE YOU had such experiences? Please share them with me, and I’ll post it here, as well as use it to research my article for the magazine. 100% anonymity assured(not for Peter though
)!
Cheers

Hey all,
A small buzz has been building about a new video sharing community website in its beta release stages named Videohybrid – “watch what you want“. It seems like a highly modified idea based on YouTube. Primarily, its just a user driven video sharing community. But with a HUGE difference. We have categories here named “Movies” and “Shows”.

Yes dear reader, it is a MOVIE and SOAP sharing website! I’m waiting to see how long its going to last before it crumbles under heavy lawsuits!
The site has, on a positive note, an easy to use interface with ajax interacted actions. It has an easy selection menu of Movies or Shows. The movies are of medium quality, usually of resolution somewhere nere 640X480. The movies are played on a sleek flash player window. Sound quality is excellent too. Extremely fast loading (Dix X encoded).

But, unfortunately, the Piracy issue is still a concern! Indeed, its About section says
- We do not host any videos on videohybrid.com, nor do we upload videos on to other sites. Our entire site only uses about 5mb of space.
- We are non-profit, free of use, and public-access.
- We do not promote piracy. We do not encourage our members to upload illegal videos. This is merely a free public-archive of available links. Contending to use these links or upload videos are based on an individual user’s decision. By uploading videos onto video sites such as youtube, users have electronically agreed to not submit said videos and are breaking contracts with these sites.
Arent these people aware that sharing of movies IS a copyright infringement AND piracy? But wait for it, the movies list has a few old movies like American Pie 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. But Casino Royale is a bit more recent isnt it? And 300? Its just launched! The DVDs arent available yet!
And these guys say all this isnt piracy? Good Lord! These copyrighted, some brand new, movies are available for FREE viewing on the internet, and they say its legal??!!!
And the shows too! American Idol, LOST, Friends, CSI, and hundreds more! All these shows are copyrighted!
3,174 Movies, Shows, Global. (If there are 3 videos in a movie or show, it is still only counted as one. 57,886 Votes Overall. 7,534 Unique Voters 292,121 Clips viewed overall.
The poor dudes have put in a lot of work into the site. They have a lovely, simple theme, a hot ajax interface, fast pages, great cataloging and so on and so forth. But will all the word be worth it? My guess is, they wont last more than 4 months. But we shall wait and see… I’ll leave it for Michael Arrington (Techcrunch) to proclaim a more suitable lifespan

I am sure you have alll heard of Torrents. If you haven’t, they are relatively small files that tell a program to go looking for ‘Seeds’ with a certain file. This file is totally dependant on the torrent. This system is perfect for big files becausethere might be many people who have this file and if one person goes then another is bound to be there. Some of the most popular Torrent downloaders are BitTorrent and Bitlord. But, theres a new programme out there; uTorrent. The actual files for uTorrent actually take up less than a megabyte (!) yet it stills has nearly all the funcionality of BitTorrent. If your interested, the URL is www.utorrent.com.
Have fun, no naughty business
.
