Hello there dear pursuer!

I’m kind of nostalgic right now, so I’ll start of in the traditional grade 12 letter writing style…

I’m writing this letter blog to inform you that Spread Firefox, the Mozilla Firefox website, is organising a Download Day in order to achieve a world record by having the maximum number of people download Firefox 3 on that day, and to request you to participate in the same.

Mozilla aims to have 5 million downloads in a single day, when the first stable version of Firefox 3 is completed. Though the exact date is not known, it is expected to be sometime in June 2008. You can pledge your support, and your download, at the Download Day website. The Mozilla team will inform you via email about the exact date of the event. By participating in the event, you will not only be part of a world record, but you’ll also help make the web, and your computer, a safer and secure place. If you’re a bit hyperactive, and if you don’t have much activities to poke your head in to, you can also take up the cause in your school/college/office/locality and make a bash of the entire event (hey, yet another reason to have beer! :D ) . If you’re on Facebook, go ahead and add the event to your calendar! Mozilla is venturing in to fields yet unraveled through Firefox 3, which boasts of a lot more secure and safer system and interface. (see more below)

I once again hope that you will Pledge your support for this programme, and help make the open source effort a huge success!

Download Day Yours faithfully,
   Mohan K.

Well, yes, that a lot more balderdash. But coming back to the point of the post, this is awesome oppurtunity to support the Mozilla Firefox movement. And of course, if you’re not a Firefox user, this is a splendid time to switch!

Why should you choose Firefox 3? Tristan Nitot says it all!

Ten reasons to choose Firefox 3 over your obsolete browser
Safer browsing
  • 1 - Proven security track record, with more frequent, transparent updates, so that you use a safer browser
  • 2 - malware protection to be protected against unwanted downloads such as viruses and trojan horses
Better browsing, with thousands of improvements
  • 3 - Awesome bar, so that you can find places you’ve been before with a couple of keystrokes
  • 4 - "Save on exit" so that when you launch Firefox, you’re immediately ready to surf, with last windows and tabs open
  • 5 - Remember passwords without a dialog box, so that you decide to save the password after you’ve logged-in
  • 6 - New download manager, users can pause a download and resume it later, with a search box to easily retrieve previous downloads
  • 7 - Customizable: change the look and feel (themes) and add features (extensions) to Firefox through the built-in add-ons manager. More than 5,000 community-built extensions are available for free!
Better performance
  • 8 - Fastest on complex Web applications, such as GMail so you are more comfortable, even on old machines
  • 9 - Uses less memory than any other browser, so you’ll get more mileage out of your computer
  • 10 - Moving the Web forward by supporting advanced Web standards so that the Web keeps evolving and benefits users in the long term.

Hey hold it! I know it sounds cool, but hold on buddy! Don’t download the beta yet… (damn, I just let slip that there is a beta download option! ;) ) Try to hold off until the Download Day, so that you can contribute to creating history!

Talking about history, its time for me to vamoose and be history for the time being, so adios amigo! I’ll catch in a short while, with my next radically interesting (boring) blog post :D

Hello all,

One of my blogging pals forwarded this YouTube video to me, and I thought that it conveyed a very important message, rather than just being hilarious. Go ahead, and watch it, and scroll down for my comments, and after reading, please do add your own comments.

Yes, I know it was damn hilarious. It was fun to relate to most of the stuff said in the video, and glimpse back like baboons and exclaim "Oh my God, thats pretty amazing true!". :D

But did you get the final point? The video, like many of its predecessors, are questioning whether Web 2.0 is a bubble which could just break like that. From what we’ve seen so far - the rapid expansion - it could certainly be a bubble which could break at any moment. But how could it break?

Either, something major like a 9/11 could happen again, bringing about a paradigm shift of technology and cause the bubble to burst. Or, Web 2.0 might give way for something more radical and dynamic. Or even a massive discovery in terms of hardware could bring about a shift.

What do you think? Is what we see and use everyday, Web 2.0, a bubble? If so, what will cause it to burst - economy? War? Development? Technology? Post in your comments through the comments field. :)

Adios until ma next :)

Interactive Souls Engine - Virtual Tarot - reads your mind…

In other words, a perfect way to split your friend’s psyche and make him/her start worshipping all forces of fate, luck, and God.

Ladies and gentlemen,

I had the most curious of experiences today, when I thought that I was in a highly spiritual domain, but was in fact ’sucked’ to the core. It all started with me walking quite unnecessarily into the college Internet lab. There, I found two of my friends in an overly excited state ogling one of the computer screens with as much ‘oomph’ into their ogle as they’d seen a very beautiful and attractive girl. Needless to say, there WAS a girl sitting in between them, with a smug self satisfied expression on her face.

The trio invited me to a highly spiritual experience - I saw that they had the site called Peter Answers open. The girl typed in a petition (Peter, please answer:) and a question (Who just walked in?). I was like the all-in-all geek and dismissed the whole thing with a haughty wave of my hand, when to my utter astonishment, the words on screen formed "Mohan". I was digging my sub consious mind for all that I’d learned about iterations and random selections, when she asked what I was wearing to ‘Peter’, who promptly replied with my exact costume.

To find out what was amiss, I myself tried it out, and found that "I didn’t believe in spirits". The three musketeers told me that the phenomenon was true to only a select few. I tried the game a couple more times, and by lucky coincidence, the words on screen and my thoughts and feelings matched once. I fell into deep contemplation, and later undisturbed prayer. I started thanking all Gods for having achieved this state above Maslow’s Self Actualization - Transcendental stage! I started spreading the word to all my friends, till the logical me decided to look into the source…

The Source took me to a few lines of Ajax. "Ajax is God!" I reflected and continued looking… Hmmmm… Fishy…. Something extremely fishy… I decided to appeal to the God of the Internet, the master who controlled all what came in, and kicked out all which had to be out, the undisputed king of the entire Internet - Google. With a few references, and a closer look at the source, revealed a fantastic trick hidden beneath those spiritual theological layers.

An excellent way to trick your friends, like I was buffooned into this!

But before I continue, check out the site and give it a couple of tries.

The trick is simple enough. The "Petition" field is a farce. Hit the "." (period) and type - you’ll find text appearing out of nowhere. Whatever you type after hitting the period will be the text intended to appear. Put in the answer to your question here.

Now type the question as if nothing happened in the "Question" field. And moment you hit "?" the text you typed in in the Petition after the dot will appear! Voila! Abracadabra! Wingardium Leviosa! (woops, wrong one :D )

So how can it be used? Simple enough again. Get a few friends together, and tell them that you’ve reached self actualization, and that you could communicate with the netherworld. Ask you friends to ask the questions. If they know the answer, tell it out loud. Or if its an opinion, like in "Does she love me?" and stuff, just form the most witty answer yourself. Hit period and start typing the answer in the Petition field, and the question as normal! Enjoy :)
